Friday ![]() The Unborn is a supernatural thriller that draws upon the legend of a dybbuk, a malevolent spirit that refuses to leave the human world and inhabits the body of a person. Protagonist Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) is plagued by merciless dreams, visions of strange looking dogs, and an evil child with bright blue eyes. After being hit with a mirror by her neighbor's son, Casey's eyes begin to change color and she learns she had a twin brother who died in the womb. Casey begins to suspect that the spirit haunting her is the soul of her dead twin, being possessed by a dybbuk, wanting to be born so it can transfer to the world of the living. Casey meets a woman named Sofi, who is revealed to be her grandmother. Sofi explains that she had a twin brother who was killed in Nazi experiments in Auschwitz when they were both just children. The boy was brought back to life by a dybbuk who intended to use his body as a portal into the world of the living. Sofi killed her twin to stop the dybbuk, and now it haunts her family for revenge. Sofi refers Casey to Rabbi Sendak (Gary Oldman), who can perform a Jewish exorcism to remove the dybbuk. The exorcism is performed, but things go awry as the dybbuk tries to stop Rabbi Sendak from completing the ritual. The dybbuk disappears after the exorcism and the death of Casey's boyfriend. Soon afterward, Casey learns she is pregnant with twins. Fana, Naq & I catched this flick at The Cathay last Friday after our Higher Nitec Registration. We definitely were expecting some serious horror scenes, something really scream-worthy as such. But alas to our disappointment, the movie lacked in many aspects. Not only did it lacked in its scary parts, it's only rich in suspense. Seriously, i'm looking for some parts to scream out loud and not to just hold my breath and only to release it to see that the part's actually over, as in nothing happened. Just another one of the many suspence parts -___-" Though, there was this one scary part that really got me going whereby this paralysed guy, Eli, was chasing this old lady around with his body contorted in a upside semi-circle manner with his head oddly able to turn 360 degree. I swear, that was probably one out of three scary parts in the movie. So, there was this one part where Eli was gaining up on the old lady and she seek refuge in an old closet, when Eli suddenly popped beside her. The suspence was killing me and I let out a loud piercing scream, cause I couldn't hold it in. I got a lil embarassed after that cos I heard some laughters even from the other side of the theatre, lol. But i shaked it off, i mean this is a scary movie people. You're supposed to be shivering, shitting in your pants or something. I made the movie sound happening with my scream, alright. Lol! Funnily, Naq was laughing and smiling throughtout the movie, like she wasn't even freaked out. Whereas Fana just held the popcorn bag to shield her eyes when the scary and suspence parts were showing. Cute, lol. But overall, it was a fun experience though the movie was lame. I'll pick a scary movie anytime over any other genres of movie. Be it comedy/thriller/action/sci-fi whatever alright. It's the best friend-bonding movie seriously! :P So girls, beep me up for any future outings. Time check: 1.17 am ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, not! Labels: I love you girls. Saturday ![]() Confessions of a Shopaholic Struggling with her debilitating obsession with shopping and the sudden collapse of her income source, Rebecca Bloomwood unintentionally lands a job writing for a financial magazine after a drunken letter-mailing mix-up. Ironically writing about the very consumer caution of which she herself has not abided, Rebecca's innovative comparisons and unconventional metaphors for economics grants her critical acclaim, public success, and the admiration of her supportive boss Luke. But as she draws closer to her ultimate goal of writing for renowned fashion magazine Alette, she questions her true ambitions and must determine if overcoming her "shopaholic" condition will bring her real happiness. Guess who already watched Confession of a Shopaholic? My sisters and I did, yay! I was definitely psyched to watch it. Seriously tell me, which girl is not gonna be anticipating for this fun-filled shopping manic movie? You tell me. 26th March 2009, Thurs So, My thursday evening was spend watching a live match of local football match. Awesome . . . . I don't usually do this, but at least it's something rather than nothing. Was a match between Wdls Wellington and Gombak United. It was mediocre. I enjoyed being there, aah the atmosphere. I know i spend about 99.8% chit-chatting than watching the game. But whatever, it's fun nonetheless :) Despite, the presence of that girl-whose-sour-about-us-plus-with-her-mum-that- thinks-Ajid's-still-falling-over-her-daughter's-feet was there as well. *roll eyes* Oh, and this one freak accident happened. It was purely unintentional. Yana, Fara & I was walking through this stretch of poorly-lighted place towards the stadium, when Fara told me to avoid a snail which I had jump a lil' in order do so, only to know the snail I avoided wasn't the one that Fara had asked me to avoid. I didn't know there were two snails there. So, I landed square on the unknown of snail's back and its shell was crushed! It even has this distinctive almost crispy sound, KREKKKK! Omg. And the slime got smeared by the sides of my slippers. Truly disgusting, but after that I was engulfed with the deepest guilt. I didn't mean to kill the snail :( I would have blogged about Friday's event and outing, but I can't. The pictures are still with Naq. So yeah, stay put alright. Time check: 5.26 am I'm out!
